The Sincerest Form of Flattery

I had a college writing professor that held all writing is theft. Stealing an idea or premise isn’t a bad thing, it means it was a good idea and everyone will want to copy your success. After all, there are only like three original plot lines ever (Man v. Man, Man v. Nature, Man v. Self. Go ahead, try to name another one. Can’t? Didn’t think so). What you do with the idea once you steal it, however, is pretty important.

Here at Damn Heroes, we like to think that once we steal something, we make it worse. Much, much worse. Hitting rock bottom and digging worse. Making you want to show up at Alex’s house with a banana cream pie in the face worse (don’t try that crap at my house, I’ll break your legs). Anyway, here’s to hoping we continue to be successful at it. Enjoy!

What about Man v. Woman? Married life is teaching me much about this conflict.

If your wife doesn’t read this strip, I’m going to make sure she does…Good luck getting half your stuff back.

Show dialogue

Panel 1

Captain Righteous, in his red and blue superhero suit, holds a dishevelled Evil Sebastian by his red shirt. Evil Sebastian wears glasses, has messy hair, and emits smoke from his mouth. Sebastian, in a green t-shirt, stands next to them, looking up at Captain Righteous.

Captain Righteous: I apprehended this villain attempting to shrink the sun. Does it belong to you?

Evil Sebastian: (cough cough)

Sebastian: Um, kinda. He's my evil twin.

Panel 2

Captain Righteous poses with a hand to his chin, contemplating Sebastian's words. Evil Sebastian, still held, looks annoyed, while Sebastian smiles sheepishly up at the hero.

Captain Righteous: I see. You didn't try to use one of the doctor's machines, did you?

Sebastian: Um, er...hah-hah. Well, maybe just a quick test run.

Panel 3

Captain Righteous walks to the right, dragging Evil Sebastian on the ground by his collar. Sebastian walks alongside them. Evil Sebastian, lying on his side, points a finger upwards in protest.

Captain Righteous: Sigh...Ok, take me to it so it can be destroyed. I swear, what I would give for one original plot these days...

Sebastian: Yeah, yeah. You go try to take over the world before your afternoon nap. Harrumph, harrumph!

Evil Sebastian: I coulda been a contender...
